Leading at Home
Like everything in life, Leadership is a process. It does not just happen, no matter what stage you are in life or how much you think you deserve it.

Leaders Choose Positive Attitudes
“It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult undertaking which, more than anything else, will determine its successful outcome”. – William James
It is not what happens to us that really matters, but how we react toward those situations as leaders that determine how best we deliver to our mandate. Good leaders choose a positive outlook on situations. They are constantly seeking solutions and new ideas for problems.
The leaders who have led change in various sectors of our society made an impact, challenged the status quo, and have won for themselves, not just the numerous awards but the respect of many of us are individuals who have a positive attitude to life. Some of them even team members who might not have been challenged enough to see the bright side of things, but by the fact that they constantly got in touch with the leader and his positivity, they became poised for action and went all out to help their leaders succeed.
Most often than not a leader with a positive attitude is able to carry his followers along in meeting the most presumably difficult tasks. You become less burdened when the positive attitude you have is rubbed on your followers too.
If you want to be an achiever, then you have to change your attitude to one of positivity.
Make a decision today to nurture positive attitudes in yourself and your team members.

Leading In a Workspace
“A good leader leads the people from above them. A great leader leads the people from within them.”–M. D. Arnold
Leadership in an organization takes different forms. Whereas some people may assume leadership because of their titles as CEOs, Managers or Heads of Departments, anyone within the organization can be a leader in their own space and within their respective teams. In an organization, a leader could be one influencing workers and colleagues with strategies to meet the organization’s objectives.
A leader is one who is able to harness the abilities of his team members for the greater good of the organization in which they find themselves in. You can only know your team members when you make a conscious effort to find out what temperaments they exhibit, what comes to them easily and in what ways you will be able to lead each one of them.
Emotional intelligence is one of the main terminologies we here of these days and I believe it’s high time leaders deploy this strategy to help them reach out to their followers.
Leaders can sometimes be bossy. Giving instructions without usually listening or including followers in decision making. To be a great leader, one needs to identify the capabilities of his followers and harness them to the benefit of the team.
Decide from today to be a leader who is interested in the total wellbeing of your followers.

Leadership is Adding Value to Others
“Leadership is a process of social influence which maximizes the efforts of others towards the achievement of a goal”. Kevin Kruse
Leadership is a process. It does not just happen. Many of us get excited by events, but are not willing to take the time to go through the painful process to grow into leadership. This process involves developing social relationships to gain the permission to lead. Leadership is not of right. Once you have gained the permission, your job as a leader is to add value to your followers in order to maximize their efforts toward the attainment of a set objective. If your leadership is not improving the lives of the people you lead, then you need to answer some serious questions. The highest purpose of leadership is to add value to others.
It will require that you go out of your way sometimes to even pay for the development of the members on your team. Some leaders think it is the absolute responsibility of their followers to develop themselves, but the truth is that, if you invest in your followers, you are helping yourself to build a more resilient, efficient, and effective team. This means that it will be more beneficial to you the leader to add value to your followers regardless of the cost it may come with.
